What Makes the Festival of Raksha Bandhan So Significant?

Raksha Bandhan is not just another day of the year. It is one of the significant moments when siblings express their true heart feelings to each other by the means of attractive gifts, mesmerizing Rakhi and delectable sweets. This is not a festival of give and take; in fact it is a moment of the year that tells a person about dedication and responsibilities towards his relations. Now, one of the biggest question rising from every part of the world is that, why is the festival so significant. What makes Raksha Bandhan, one of the most prominent days of the year in India and what is the reason why this is a globally recognized festival. The answer to all questions is one only and it is the purity.

The festival is celebrated to honor the purest bond ever in this world. Yes, we are discussing here about the significance of Raksha Bandhan and before we proceed in that, let us discuss about the siblinghood bond. Siblings are the blessed gifts of parents. They may have numerous fights, they may hate each other, but there cannot be any other bond in the earth that could be considered as much pure and divine as brother sister bond. In country like India where we live and die in relationship, festivals such as Raksha Bandhan are prominent. Being celebrated in the month of August or sometimes July as well, the day of Raksha Bandhan brings so much of joy and happiness in the life of siblings.

The merriment of the day is what makes it much significant. Sisters tie sacred Rakhi thread on brother’s wrist and as a return of her love and affection plus her dedication she is rewarded with gifts by her bro. It is the belief and faith on the thread of Rakhi only that makes a person tied to the relations forever. Even if one does not share the blood bond, still the thread of Rakhi has much power that two individuals sharing the feelings and emotions of siblings can be tied in the bond just with the Rakhi thread tied around brother’s hand. It is the belief in the thread of Rakhi only which makes two individuals tied in the bond forever. It is not just a day but an annual gala of relationships that brings hearts closer and this is a reason why Raksha Bandhan is a significant festival in India.
